While designing my contents page and front cover I had to make sure that all of the fonts and color scheme matched. Therefore, I consistently used the font "Adobe Heiti Std" throughout both pages to make sure that there was continuity. Also, due to the magazine being a Pop Magazine, I had to make the colours very vibrant and lively and I also made sure that the blue and pink was used in both pages. Finally, most of the subjects shown on the front cover are all featured in the contents page too with page numbers. This makes it seem more realistic and therefore more professional.
Here I have brightened the photo of the three girls on the contents page and I also increased the contrast of the image, making them look more vibrant and full of colour.
I then decided to find an "L.A" background which I could use to put behind the three girls to make their image look a lot more realistic and relate to their story.
Once I had found an image I had to remove the initial background from behind the three girls. To do this I had to use the rubber tool and i carefully rubbed the background from around their heads/bodies.
After removing the initial background I was able to apply the new background which I had found. To make it look even more realistic I altered the new background by making it blurred. To do this I used the Gaussian Blur. It makes the image of the three girls stand out more, making it look more professional.
To finalize the image I used "Levels" on the girls' faces again to make them look more vibrant and to make them look like theyare actually within that scenery. Therefore, by making their faces darker, it made the background apply perfectly as it had been taken during the night when it is dark.
Here is the final outcome and the previous image. You can see how much the image has changed, it looks a lot more realistic.
By comparing both these together you can see that the same colour scheme has been used throughout it all to show consistency, bring it all together and shows that they are part of the same magazine. Therefore, they look more profession together.
To make my double page spread look professional I made sure that all colours within the image of the model were also featured within the text. Therefore, by using the "Eyedropper" tool I was able to make the title the same colour as the models' jacket, again showing consistency. I also did this to create the background colour too, but instead I made the colour lighter and changed the level of opacity.
To make to magazine look realistic, I used part of the logo (the equalizer) and used it against the web address in the contents page. To do this I duplicated the layer and transferred from the front cover to the contents page.
On the front cover, I featured images of girls that would be featured elsewhere throughout the magazine. To do this, I used the popular design of a 'Polaroid picture'. This give the front cover individuality as I showed images of people, but in a different way to how it is usually done.
For the double page spread, I had to make my model look as if she was genuinely famous. To do this I used an image of which I had previously taken and I removed the background with the rubber. I then picked an image from the internet which had a famous person at the Brit awards. I placed my image over that image and make it look like my model had appeared at the Brit awards. This made it look very realistic.
I did this again as I removed the background of an image that I had taken and I replaced it with an L.A. Bar image.
As you can see here, it is obvious that there has been changes in the front cover and it has developed a lot. I have changed the layout of the text and included many more colours. I included them in a way were the text didn't change colour, instead I changed the colour of the background behind the text. I also included a splash as I could show text in a different and unusual way.
